Features

Starting with version 1.9.9, Be nice can be your default home app. In this mode, the Be nice user interface consists of three pages which you can reach by swiping horizontally.

  • Favorites and widgets

As its name suggests, you can add two app widgets, one at the top, one at the bottom of the page. In the middle of the page is an alphabetically sorted list of installed apps, app pairs, and folders that have been marked as favorites. On large-screen devices, an additional right pane hosts additional widgets.

  • Apps list

On this page, you will find all installed apps, app pairs, favorites, and folders. Long-press an item to reveal a bottom sheet that allows you to manage apps, favorites, and folders.

  • Settings

On this page, you can configure which app widgets you want to show on the Favorites and widgets page, navigate to the Default home app system settings, and customize the visual appearance and behavior of Be nice.

If you choose to stay with your current launcher app, the Favorites and widgets page will not be visible. Of course, the Apps list page and Settings remain available.

App pairs

When Be nice isn’t your home app, you decide how app pairs appear: pinned on the home screen, dynamic shortcuts, or both. When Be nice is your home app, app pairs are always created as dynamic shortcuts. Once you have created an app pair, it appears in the alphabetically sorted list on the Apps list page. You can mark it as a favorite by tapping and holding the corresponding item. Favorites appear at the top of the Apps list page, as well as on the Favorites and widgets page.

Folders

With folders, you can organize your installed apps in groups that help you find apps more easily. Long-press an app item to select the folders you want an app to be shown in.

App widgets

You can add two app widgets to the Favorites and widgets page. On large-screen devices, an additional right pane hosts additional widgets.

Hidden items

You can hide apps from the Apps list page. Hidden apps are moved to an invisible Hidden items folder that you can manage on the Settings page.

Dock

On the Favorites and widgets page, you can customize the dock slots to launch the phone, messages, browser, or your favorite apps with a single tap.
